Atyrau Oil & Gas exhibition is an event that has no match in the region. Atyrau is the key and strategically important geographic area for the domestic oil and gas industry, as well as the economy of Kazakhstan in general. Important oil deposits are located in the region, such as:

- Kashagan field, which is located in the northern part of the Caspian Sea in the territorial waters of the Republic of Kazakhstan and includes the area of about 75 km x 45 km. The original-oil-in place is estimated at 4,5 billion tons.

- Tengiz field, which is located 350 km to the southeast of Atyrau. This is the deepest oil field in the world with its supergiant upper oil-bearing collector lying at the depth of about 4,000 meters or 13,000 feet.
